PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) or PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) has taken the world by storm. This is a big problem for many young women living in India today. Attacks of PCOD often occur in childhood, so many young people have this problem. A common endocrine disorder of unknown cause affects 5-10% of fertile women. The average age of people with PCOD is 18-45 years. It is important that young people understand this disease from the beginning and its causes and consequences for the future. PCOD is represented by many small cysts in the ovary. It enlarges the ovaries and causes an increase in androgens and estrogens, which causes many problems in the body. The cause of PCOD is still unknown. However, PCOD may be associated with lower inflammation, higher insulin, higher levels of male hormone production (hyperandrogenism), and genetics. Advent, poor lifestyle and abdominal pain are also some of the contributing causes of PCOD. A person's skin may be thin or clear, but PCOD is still affected. It is caused by an endocrine disorder that affects many organs. However, the main risk factors for the disease are insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia. Insulin controls the amount of sugar in the body. Insulin resistance refers to the inability of cells to respond to insulin by transporting glucose (sugar) from the blood to muscles and other tissues. As a result, the pancreas produces more insulin to fight high blood sugar.
