Total laparoscopic hysterectomy is the surgical procedure of removing the uterus and cervix. If necessary, removal of tubes and ovaries will also be done. This surgery is used for diseases like fibroid, growth of tissues on the inner part of the uterus, heavy bleeding in the vagina, infection of fallopian tubes and ovaries, etc. Spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia will be given depending upon your health condition and your preferences. When you are asleep laparoscope will be inserted into your stomach through small incisions about 1 to 1.5 centimeters on your abdomen. Instruments for the surgery will be inserted through the other three incisions in the abdomen. A laparoscope is a long tube on one end of which a small video camera is connected and the other end of which is connected to the monitor in front of the surgeon. The abdomen will be filled with carbon dioxide gas which will keep the belly inflated and the internal parts away from the belly wall. By viewing the interior parts of the uterus through the laparoscope, the surgeon performs the surgery through remotely controlled instruments. As this is a surgery with small incisions, the blood loss will be less. Recovery will be faster and the patient will be able to go for normal work within two or three days after surgery. The pelvic anatomy of the patient and the surgeon's experience play a crucial role in the successful completion of a total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Adhesions of previous surgery, greater uterine width, obesity, etc are contraindications for this procedure. Contact DR.GOTAM PIPARA for further information or on the best Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.
