Urinary Bladder

The urinary bladder is the organ that stores urine and we pass it out from the bladder every 3 to 4 hours. It can be a site for infection (cystitis) / stones / cancer. A bladder tumor when diagnosed early can be life-saving and would avoid a too morbid procedure. However, bladder cancers diagnosed late need removal of the entire bladder with prostate in males and with the uterus in females and forming a new passage for urine. With proper preop counseling, the outcome can be good and life-saving.
